Event Outline
One of our longest contracts we were tasked by Lancashire County
Council to design an appropriate roadshow to promote cycling (and
latterly all forms of sustainable travel under the Travelwise
brand) with a mobile interactive eye-catching display that would
attract event visitors and passers-by on a limited budget.
We devised a roadshow that featured
fun cycling activities, including our cycle smoothie-maker and
virtual reality bike, eye-catching displays and information
leaflets in a branded marquee staffed by cycling experts. By doing
so we were able to easily attend events in all sorts of places from
company cafes to major county shows and engage with thousands of
visitors, passing on plenty of relevant advice and answer all sorts
of cycling and travel queries.
We linked up with appropriate local
cycling organisations to ensure a direct link to local mentors,
contacts and clubs thereby providing a seamless link for interested
people to follow and removing one of the main obstacles for people
to cycle. The roadshows also facilitated consultation with
residents over proposed schemes ensuring appropriate facilities
were commissioned. The roadshow also operated in a wide range of
schools getting children interested in cycling and learning more
about the mechanics of cycling along with the benefits of regular
activity and eating fruit.
The roadshows successfully:
- promoted cycling by providing a range of relevant
information
- provided a unique activity that enticed people to
visit
- raised the profile of cycling in the county and the work of the
County Council in developing cycling infrastructure
- promoted the Travelwise brand
- provided relevant Travelwise and travel information to people
relative to where they live and work (the message and leaflets were
carefully tailored to the locality of the roadshow)
