With 15 years experience in various parts of the event
management industry after graduating in Sports Science from
Liverpool John Moores University, Mark Sandamas set up Pennine
Events in 2002.
Whilst
initially working from home in Barnoldswick in Lancashire, Mark
then established the business in Orrell near Wigan in Greater
Manchester. In 2009 bigger and better premises were found in Bamber
Bridge near Preston which allowed the business to grow and is where
the company currently operates from.
The company has experience in working with a wide range of
clients delivering events of varying scales and complexity,
ensuring high quality services and cost effective solutions.
Mark has developed the business so as to be able to offer a wide
range of event related services but in doing so has also built a
specialism in the successful design, management and delivery of
complex mass participation cycling events and activities connected
with them.
Work done for Kent County Council in
connection with the Tour de France 2007 was recognised with a
Commendation from the Metropolitan Police. Pedal for Scotland
delivered for Cycling Scotland has won Best Sports Event at the UK
Sports Event Awards and Best Scottish Sports Event and Best Event
Management at the Event Scotland Awards Ceremony amongst nine
awards it has won whilst we have been organising the event and the
company itself was successful in winning Lancashire's Small
Business of the Year Award for 2010/11
Mark is the sole owner of the company which has 7 permanent full
time employees and a large bank of freelance staff acting as
consultants in specialist services such as Health and Safety and
highway management or event support activities.
Pennine Events is a registered member of the National Outdoor
Events Association.
An active member of the Community Business Partnership in
Lancashire, Mark offers mentoring support to fledgling businesses
in the County using his own experiences and knowledge to help
others develop their companies.
Mark has a BSc (Hons.) in Sports Science with other members of
staff having degrees or other qualifications in similar and
connected subjects giving the company an excellent base of
knowledge in order to deliver the events it is appointed to
provide. Mark is keen to expand the company, providing
opportunities for newly qualified individuals along with work
experience for those undertaking training.
Mark can be regularly heard on local radio stations talking
about the events the company has successfully delivered and his
