We work for FACE Partnership in
managing the operational delivery of the Nocturne
Series.
The first event of the season, in
Smithfield London, was even bigger than last year. with a
packed race programme featuring more races than ever
before. An estimated 10,000 people attended the
event throughout the day!
Topping the bill was the
Elite Criterium with international stars joining the
cream of British talent on the start line. We were
delighted that HTC's Columbia Mark Cavendish made a
surprise visit, having abandoned the Tour de Suisse and
returning directly to Smithfield Nocturne on his arrival
back in the UK. The crowds also warmly reacted to
Cavendish, who was interviewed on stage.
Other events
included the
Team Challenge, the hugely popular
Folding Bike Race, the
Elite Women's Criterium, the
Cycling Weekly Support Race, the return of the
Fixed Longest Skid Competition and a special
Architectural and Property Race.
Also new and popular in 2010 was the
HTC Bicycle Phone Charging point, the event village
of local trading stalls, and the big ‘Live’
screen where you could watch all the racing action.
There was also a great opportunity for cyclists, of
all ages, to ride the challenging Smithfield circuit, in
the LFA Sky Ride.

We successfully achieved the aim
of 2010, which was to increase the
scope of the festival around the Nocturne circuit
creating more interaction and an enhanced spectator
experience.
