Shankly Bike Ride (Glasgow to Liverpool) Conditions of Entry

1. Minimum Fundraising Amount

We require a non-refundable registration fee of £199 (Registration Fee) to reserve your place. The Registration Fee must be paid in full by no later than 30 June 2013.

You can pay the Registration Fee via Pennine Events website www.pennineevents.co.uk/LFCEntry.

In addition to the Registration Fee, you shall commit to paying a further minimum amount of £300.00 (Balance) [this sum can be paid by you or raised from one or more third parties by donation}. Payment of the Balance must be made in full by no later than 30 June 2013. The Registration Fee and Balance will go toward covering the tour costs of running the Shankly Bike Ride and collectively will be the Minimum Fundraising Amount due from you total £499

You are encouraged to raise an additional amount of fundraising of at least £500 all of which will benefit the Liverpool FC Foundation.

The remaining Balance and additional fundraising amount can be paid via our JustGiving account or via Cheque made payable to ‘Liverpool FC Foundation’ please send cheque to Event Manager, Liverpool FC Foundation, Anfield Road, Liverpool, L4 0TH, UK. Please also include your full name, address and contact details.

2. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, you must not use your participation in the Shankly Bike Ride for any commercial gain, or to fundraise for any registered charity other than the Liverpool FC Foundation.

3. If you are unable to pay the Minimum Fundraising Amount by the dates specified in clause 1 above, you will forfeit your place, no refunds will be given.

4. The Balance and Minimum Fundraising amount raised in connection with the Shankly Bike Ride must be payable to Liverpool FC Foundation in pound sterling. Payment can be made via Cheque to the Liverpool FC Foundation or via the Liverpool FC Foundation JustGiving account. Please convert foreign currency pledges into pound sterling, minus the conversion fee.

5. You must be at least 18 years old at the time of the Shankly Bike Ride.

6. You must wear a helmet at all times when cycling. You will not be allowed to cycle without a helmet.

7. You participate at your own risk.  The Shankly Ride will take place in England and Scotland and involves an element of risk. The ground operators will provide advice, instructions and warnings to minimise this, and you will be required to comply with them.  An English-speaking paramedic will accompany you on the Shankly Bike Ride. On occasions, there may not be immediate access to medical facilities.  You will be informed of likely medical hazards and you will be responsible for taking appropriate precautions, e.g. vaccinations. 

8. To the fullest extent permissible in law, neither we nor any of our officers, employees or agents shall be responsible (whether in tort, contract or otherwise) for:

(a) any loss, damage or injury to you or to any property belonging to you resulting from any cause whatsoever;

(b) for any loss of profit, loss of use, loss of opportunity or any indirect, economic or consequential loses whatsoever; and/or

(c) any losses arising from cancellation, postponement or rearrangement pursuant to clause 2 of the Cancellation Guidelines.

9. All itinerary and arrangements are subject to change.  You will be notified of any changes as soon as reasonably practicable.  All transfers to and from the Shankly Bike Ride start and end points are at your own expense.

10. On the Shankly Bike Ride, you will be provided with overnight accommodation in Glasgow, Drumlanrig, Appleby in Westmoreland and Preston. This may involve sharing a room and conditions may be basic, in Drumlanrig and Appleby in Westmoreland this will include camping. Rooms/tents will be single-sex. We will provide mattresses, sleeping bags, tents and suitable facilities.

We will endeavour to facilitate room share requests and these will be catered for where possible, however this cannot be guaranteed. Rider snacks, breakfasts, lunch and dinner will be provided on 29 August – 30 August inclusive. Rider snacks, breakfast and lunch will be provided on 1 September 2013.

11. The Foundation reserves the right to refuse participation of any person in the Shankly Bike Ride at any time without disclosing the reason. The Foundation would refund any monies due.

12. You must complete the online Medical Questionnaire with your registration. Your place on the Shankly Bike Ride cannot be confirmed until we have received this.

13. Unless you have a pre-existing annual travel insurance policy, we recommend you take out an approved insurance policy, especially if you are travelling to the UK from overseas. You need to cover the cost of this yourself. In addition we recommend that you secure bike insurance for the duration of the ride.

14. You agree to us taking photos and video footage of the event and using it on our website and in other publications

15. You agree to be bound by and accept these terms and condition, the cancellation guidelines, the guidelines set out in the Welcome Pack.

16. We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions, the cancellation guidelines, the guidelines set out in the Welcome Pack at any time and shall publish any such changes on our website and notify you as soon as reasonably practicable.

17. If any of these terms and condition is determined by a competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable to any extent, they shall, to that extent, be severed from the remaining terms and conditions which shall continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by applicable laws.

18. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with English law and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.

CANCELLATION GUIDELINES

1.1 The dates of the Shankly Bike Ride may be subject to change or cancellation from time to time for reasons beyond our control (including, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, there being fewer than the minimum required number of participants or on the advice of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office). Where the Shankly Bike Ride is cancelled or postponed for reasons beyond our control we shall have no liability to you, except to offer you a place on another event of similar nature and duration. If you do not wish to participate in any rearranged event you will forfeit the Registration Fee, which will be deemed to be a donation by you to us and we will refund the Balance and any other sums paid by you.

1.2 Any additional fundraising sums collected must be returned to the donor (*where appropriate) or forwarded to us, this will be treated by us as a donation. We are unable to return anonymous fund raising sums donations.

2. If you cancel your booking for any reason, we will be entitled to charge you the cancellation fees set out below:

(a) in the event of cancellation any time after registration 100% of the Registration Fee;

(b) in the event of cancellation any time after payment of the Balance, 100% of the Registration Fee and 100% of the Balance

Any additional fund raising sums collected must be returned to the donor (*where appropriate) or forwarded to us, this will be treated by us as a donation. We are unable to return any fund raising sums which have been provided by anonymous persons.

*It is your responsibility to contact your sponsors, telling them you are no longer participating in the Shankly Ride, and to agree what will happen to their sponsor money.
