Over 2,800 people rolled up with their bikes to take
part in the 18th annual Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike
Ride, the highest number of entrants in the event’s
history.
The ride, organised by Pennine Events, attracted an
abundance of people from across the North West,
including amateur and pro cyclists, families enjoying a
day out together, groups of friends and
individuals all cycling for a personal challenge, a
fundraising challenge or just to enjoy a day out on a
glorious sunny day.
and you don’t just take our word for it - amongst the
riders was Mark Jones who commented: “It was my first
time taking part in the Liverpool to Chester Bike Ride
and it certainly won’t be my last. I did the 54 mile
route and loved every single moment. The organisation
was great and the whole day was an amazing experience”.

Starting at Old Haymarket, just outside the
Birkenhead Tunnel entrance, the mass-participation bike
ride is the only event in the country with exclusive
access to the tunnel, allowing participants to cycle
underneath the River Mersey, something which is not
possible the rest of the year.
The ride featured a family ride of 25 miles, a
community ride of 30 miles, a challenge ride of 54 miles
and a sportive route of 90 miles.
Mark Sandamas, Director of Pennine Events said:
“This year's Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride was a
great success with a record number of people turning up
to take part. We were so pleased to see so many people
turn out to take part in the ride, with cycling pros and
novices alike saddling up to support the 18th annual
event.
