MORE than 500 women cycled marathons, half marathons and 5K family laps around Sefton Park to raise funds to fight breast cancer.

The second Pedal It Pink day in Liverpool is expected to raise £31,000 to help women fighting the disease, bringing the total raised since last year to more than £90,000.

Former Hollyoaks actors Sarah Jayne Dunn and Helen Noble joined in the fun.

Sarah Jayne said: “Both Helen and I live in Liverpool so it’s great to see so much support from local people in the city.

“Lots of people are affected by breast cancer so it’s vital to keep funding the research and hopefully one day find a cure.”

Helen Noble added: “It’s been a brilliant day. Sefton Park is a great location and people in Liverpool are always up for a charity event to support a good cause.

“Sarah and I will definitely take part next year on a tandem bike, all dressed in pink!”

'Everyone’s been really enthusiastic and it was great to see so many people pedalling in pink while raising funds for vital breast cancer research.'

'It was wonderful to return to Liverpool, where we staged our first Pedal it Pink, and to receive so much support again. We hope to come back to Merseyside in the not too distant future to make the event even bigger and pinker.'

Your Feedback

"Just wanted to let you know I have just completed my second Pedal It Pink in Sefton Park, Liverpool.

Unfortunately I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer myself this week. I completed the 13 miles today together with my youngest daughter and five special friends.

It was great to see so many people out supporting breast cancer. I have to have surgery and radiotherapy and whatever other treatment necessary but I know I can beat this disease with so much support."
