Win a Car at the National CycloSportive!

Participants in the National Cyclosportive on 26 June 2010 and spectators at the National Road Race Championships will have the opportunity to win a car. A brand new Fiat 500 is up for grabs for anyone entering the charity raffle which is raising money for the official event charity, Pendleside Hospice.

Ian Wilkinson, local cycling star, launched the 'Win a Car' prize draw in Barley for Pendleside Hospice.

Local British cycling star and member of Endura Racing, Ian Wilkinson, from Barnoldswick, Lancashire will take part in the Championships and and backed the fundraising effort by attending the launch in Barley Village. Wilkinson is a multiple national champion and one of Britain's hottest road riders since he switched from mountain bike to road racing and gave up his day-job as a builder.

The National Cyclosportive and Road Race Championships form part of the 2010 Pendle Cycle Fest, which also includes an interactive Cycle Show. The National Cyclosportive on 26 June features challenging 90miles or 55miles routes around Pendle, Forest of Bowland and Lune Valley. Riders will tackle the infamous Nick O' Pendle climb. Individuals or teams can take part with sponsorship in aid of Pendleside Hospice.

Event director, Mark Sandamas of Pennine Events, said:

"The Pendle Cycle Fest is building up to be fantastic weekend. Already entries are coming in rapidly for the Cyclosportive and interest in the National Championships is exceptionally high as Team Sky intend to make this their only UK competitive appearance.

"All money raised during the weekend from the raffle and car parking will directly benefit the Pendleside Hospice, which works tirelessly to improve the quality of life for people with cancer or life-threatening illnesses."

Ian Wilkinson is currently racing in the Premier Calender Series. Despite his 5th place overall finish at the Tour DoonHame in Scotland last weekend, Wilkinson still leads the series with 186 points after scoring in every race so far.

We look forward to seeing him race in Pendle at  the National Road Race Championships on June 27th!
