We are looking for 100 adventurous cyclists to tour from Edinburgh to London this August 18th-23rd for Right To Play. Leaving from under the castle in one capital and arriving outside of Buckingham Palace in another, this 6 day trip will take you over hills, along coasts and through national parks. Whether you are experienced or a beginner, this promises to a fantastic challenge for a very worthy cause.
Cyclists taking part in events organised by Pennine Events, one of the country’s leading organisers of cycling events, will now find it easier and quicker to check out the route prior to taking part.
Pennine Events have been appointed by City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council to organise a new major running event in the city.
It was launched on 4th June when elite athlete Jo Wilkinson, Bradford Bulls star Sam Burgess and a group of keen runners from Greengates School joined Council leader, Kris Hopkins on their blocks in Centenary Square.In the heart of Southport on Lord St. We are bringing a fantastic range of cycling entertainment, activities and displays with top cycle-stunt entertainment from Jez Avery. read more

Pennine Events, based in Barnoldswick and Wigan, has been chosen to organise the ‘sportive ride’ (a public fun ride) at the biggest ever mass-participation cycling event to hit the UK.

Individuals and families in Chester are being encouraged to get on their bikes and ride through Chester Zoo as part of a cycling event this summer. Pennine Events will attend the Council’s launch event on Saturday 25th April in the centre of Chester where it will provide visitors with a chance to create a smoothie drink by pedalling a static bike. Visitors can also try a cycle simulator, called a Computrainer, where they can pedal along routes displayed on a computer screen to test their fitness and stamina and to learn cycling tips. read more
Pennine Events chosen again for Mersey charity walk eventIn 2008, Pennine Events organised a similar event for Mersey Tunnels as part of the Liverpool European Capital of Culture programme. That event which involved more than 12,000 people walking under the River Mersey via the Queensway Tunnel for charity - won the North West Best Event category in The Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ PRide Awards 2008. read more
Lancashire Cycle & Travelwise RoadshowPeople across Lancashire will be able to take advantage of free information about all aspects of cycling in a special roadshow touring the county this summer. The Lancashire County Council & Travelwise Cycling Roadshow is touring the county from April to September to provide an extensive range of free literature, route guides, giveaways, maps and travel leaflets for the public. People can even bring along their bikes for a free safety check. read more

A new cycle event primarily for women has got off to a wheelie good start!
More than 500 women have already signed up to take part in Pedal it Pink which offers women the opportunity to cycle a variety of routes and raise money for Breast Cancer Campaign. At this rate over 900 will be expected. read more
FREE entry to Liverpool - Chester - Liverpool Bike Ride for Over 60s
People aged 60 and over and living in Liverpool can get free entry this summer to The Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool Bike Ride – one of the largest mass participation bike rides in the country.
Liverpool Primary Care Trust is funding the cost of entry for all riders 60 and over in the event which takes place on Sunday, 5th July 2009. read more

Brian Cookson OBE has already signed up for Pendle Pedal: “The Pendle Pedal is a tough, but achievable, personal challenge for those who take their fitness seriously. The hills are as tough as they get in the UK, with as much climbing in total as the riders might face in a mountain stage of the Tour de France.

Under and Over The Mersey has won the Best Event Category in the North West PRide Awards staged by The Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

The Preston Grand Prix was a huge success. It was a full day of events with the Preston Run in the morning and the Cycle Race in the afternoon. Ian Wilkinson took another win in the elite race.
The Glasgow to Edinburgh Pedal for Scotland Event was extremely successful with around 5800 riders taking part.

The Salford Nocturne was a massive success and attended by Olympic riders Chris Hoy ,Geraint Thomas and Ed Clancy. Ian Wilkinson was the Elite Race Winner and attending crowds were in the region of 5000.

Tour of Pendle

A wet start to the Tour of Pendle but produced an excellent Tour being won by Rob Hayles with Russell Downing 2nd.
Yesterday's Pendle Pedal was a great success and enjoyed by all. With just under 500 participants taking part in the event and the return of the cycle show , riders commentated on how well organised the day was and they enjoyed what they thought was "the best sportive in the country".
Last night was another excellent race around Blackburn Town Centre. The support race was won by Simon Yates and the elite race was won by Tony Gibb.
Tomorrow will see the start of the Blackburn Grand Prix where Ian Wilkinson will be hoping to give a repeat performance of the Colne Grand Prix. Demonstrations will start at 5.30pm and racing starting from 7.00pm.

Last night's Colne Grand Prix was an excellent event with a large crowd turn out to watch some of the best riders in the country. The support race was won by Simon Adams and the Elite Race was won by local rider Ian Wilkinson.
Tomorrow sees the start of the Colne Grand prix with elite riders from around the country taking part.

An excellent days racing took part today at the new MTB Track in Lee Quarry, Bacup as over 80 Competitors took part in various categories including round 3 of the British Trials. All comments about the new track were very positive.

Sundays Under and Over the Mersey event was a great success with around 15000 people taking part. The walk through the Queensway tunnel in liverpool started with a vintage vehicle parade before the first walkers entered the tunnel at 11:00am led by Phil Redmond (Ambassador for Liverpool Capital of Culture) and Councellor Mark Dowd.
